It was great to see Jeff Bridges win the Best Actor Oscar last night for his performance in Crazy Heart, 38 years after his first nomination. I’ve always enjoyed his performances, but my appreciation for his acting has certainly grown since watching The Big Lebowski innumerable times while working on The Lebowski Cycle.
The image above is a detail from The Oath of the Horatii, based on the Jacques-Louis David painting of the same name. The full painting is almost complete and I’ll be posting it soon.
Favorite quote from Lebowski by Walter:
I was a Pacifist once; not in Nam of course
Also, I have to say, Bridges has always been well known but he still seems to fly under the radar. I think the problem is he nails the roles so well that it appears as if he doesn’t have to work hard at his acting.
Hi Mark,
It was great meeting you and Cindy at the opening. It was a fun night. Obviously, I’m a big fan of the movie. And I agree, Bridges puts in great performances, and he makes it look easy. But, I can’t decide on a favorite quote – there’s just too many of them… There’s a big exhibit of these paintings coming up. I’ll keep you posted.
